Holy guacamole I cannot believe the positive responses I have received about this blog! I took a big leap out of my comfort zone and posted something on Instagram about my blog which was without a doubt one of the most terrifying things I've done all year. I could not be happier I took the leap.
I am so thrilled with the response!
I've been doing this blog for almost a year and the intention behind this blog was a space for me to express my feelings and reflect on my experiences. And if people were to read my blog entries, that would be wonderful! but the idea of people actually reading my blog seemed unattainable.
The only way people would know about my blog was if I told them about it, however, I have had the link in my instagram bio for several months which hardly anybody saw or clicked on.
I always try not to get caught up in numbers. Whether that's the number of followers or likes on social media, or how high my score is in bowling. However, I knew I was averaging at about 7 or 8 views a post (half of these views would be just me re-editing them because I hate my grammar and syntax) but after I posted about the blog, my latest post reached over 50 views! That definitely put a smile on my dial. Sure, maybe half of the people probably read a few words and then thought "No this sucks" and exited out, but the fact they even just read one word is inspiring.
What a week it's been!
I did my first background acting job and it went really well. Although I fitted in okay and everyone was very nice, the job wasn't what I thought it'd be. I had two scenes and I had to bring a variety of outfits for both which the wardrobe lady would sort through and make the final decision about what I will be wearing. It was POURING with rain and as if that isn't inconvenient enough, it was pouring while I was wearing white sneakers which I had cleaned the previous day AND I had spent an hour and a half straightening my hair. With the torrential rain, there was not a straight hair in sight.
My work entailed miming conversation with a few different people I had met that day. They were all very nice and for a lot of them, it was there first gig as well. It's always nice to be in the same boat as someone, especially when you're new to something.
I can't give much away vis a vis who the actors were or what the project is about but what I can tell you is that you might spot my face in the crowd or maybe my shoulder or foot. Very exciting stuff.
Hopefully i'll have another acting job soon. I applied for one a week ago however, they're supposed to be filming tomorrow and I haven't heard back. I think it's safe to say I was not chosen. Oh well, Thems the breaks.
I actually had a good time at work this week! I was working in a different position than I normally do and it was such a welcome change. At first I really had no clue what I was doing. I had received a few hours of training scattered over the past few months but it's amazing what you forget. All of my tasks I needed to complete were done super early and I would sitting around looking clueless because I didn't know what else to do, but like in most things: the more you do something, the more you learn. By Friday It was all go, go, go, but before I got stuck into my work, I was greeted by some co-workers singing me 'Happy Birthday' and there was also a gorgeous cake waiting for me on my desk. It is such a nice feeling having people remember details about your life and care enough to commemorate them.
It seriously warmed my heart :)
I celebrated my actual birthday a few days ago and I was completely spoiled! Thank you to everyone who sent me lovely messages x
I've also applied for a dog walking/sitting job that could be cool. I love dogs. I've got a dog of my own: Alfredo kevin bacon (Alfie) and he is seriously the cutest thing (I understand that I am bias) but seriously, he's great.
I like the job I am working now and I will continue to work there. I just thought a little job on the side would be good for me.
